Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.07%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of MRF(up 1.23 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 1.18 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.08 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.0 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.98 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TVS Motor Company(down 2.49 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.43 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.39 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.28 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.24 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.07 per cent up at 12729.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 51.7 points at 17563.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 95.71 points at 59202.9.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, PNB, JP Power, Vodafone Idea and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of DC Infotech, HPL Electric Power, Tracxn Technologies Ltd., Mazda Ltd and Jindal Poly Investm hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, Policy Bazaar, JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Ishan International Ltd. and Vikas Proppant & Gr hit their fresh 52-week lows.
