Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed in the Tuesday's session.

Rana Sugars(up 0.21%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.12%), EID Parry(up 0.06%) and Uttam Sugar Mills(up 0.04%) stood among the top gainers.

Balrampur Chini Mills(down 3.38%), Sakthi Sugars(down 2.40%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.27%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.98%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 1.89%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 1.58%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.48%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.37%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 1.17%) and K.M.Sugar Mills(down 1.06%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 0.25 points down at 18118.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 37.08 points at 60978.75.

Tata Motors(up 3.37%), Maruti Suzuki(up 3.35%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.74%), HCL Technologies(up 1.49%), HDFC Bank(up 1.34%), Britannia Industries(up 1.34%), HDFC(up 1.22%), Asian Paints(up 0.94%), Eicher Motors(up 0.72%) and IndusInd Bank(up 0.63%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Axis Bank(down 2.41%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.96%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.93%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.84%), Grasim Industries(down 1.72%), SBI Life(down 1.71%), JSW Steel(down 1.62%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.32%), Tata Steel(down 1.31%) and Larsen & Toubro(down 1.16%) closed in the red.
