Share market update: Bank shares up; Axis Bank climbs 5%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading higher in Wednesday's session.
Shares of Axis Bank (up 4.86 per cent) , Bandhan Bank (up 3.63 per cent) , RBLBANK (up 2.48 per cent) , ICICI Bank (up 1.85 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 1.5 per cent) , HDFC Bank (up 1.19 per cent) , State Bank of India (up 0.35 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 0.3 per cent) , Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.25 per cent) and Federal Bank (up 0.2 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 1.66 per cent up at 21747.1 around 02:04PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 188.35 points at 10795.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 671.83 points at 36704.89.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Wipro, BHEL, SBI, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, L&T Fin Holding, RIL and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
