Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Thursday's session.

SJVN(up 10.18%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 10.09%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 6.65%), Adani Transmissions(up 2.95%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.47%), Tata Power Company(up 2.36%), ADANIGREEN(up 1.81%), Adani Power(up 1.52%), Hitachi Energy India(up 1.51%) and Voltamp Transformers(up 1.45%) stood among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 3.09%), Suzlon Energy(down 2.98%), KEC International(down 2.20%), Indowind Energy(down 1.64%), Inox Wind Energy(down 1.18%), RTNPOWER(down 1.15%), Energy Development Company(down 1.09%), Reliance Power(down 0.92%), K.P.I. Global Infras(down 0.90%) and GE Power India Limited(down 0.80%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 80.6 points up at 17736.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 212.88 points at 59756.84.

JSW Steel(up 5.47%), Hindalco Industries(up 3.51%), Tata Steel(up 2.96%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 2.61%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.47%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 2.03%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.84%), UPL Ltd(up 1.73%), Axis Bank(up 1.36%) and Titan Company Ltd(up 1.25%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 1.86%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.66%), Asian Paints(down 1.34%), Bajaj Auto(down 0.87%), Nestle India(down 0.74%), Tech Mahindra(down 0.61%), Wipro(down 0.52%), SBI Life(down 0.16%), Infosys(down 0.15%) and Tata Consultancy(down 0.15%) closed in the red.
