Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.24% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 11:00AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.92 per cent), Mindtree(up 0.46 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 0.31 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.21 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MPhasis(down 1.26 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.7 per cent), Wipro(down 0.33 per cent), Infosys(down 0.29 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.24 per cent at 28558.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 126.0 points at 18031.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 435.98 points at 60597.57.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of PNB, Vodafone Idea, Union Bank India, FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Magnum Ventures, Tara Chand Logistic, Linc Pen Plast, Refex Industries and Kriti Nutrients hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Piramal Pharma Ltd., Everest Kanto, Mega Flex Plastics Ltd., Team Lease Service and Quess Corp hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
