    Regional finalists of the TiE Young Entrepreneurs programme win top honours at global finale

    NEW DELHI : Team led by high school students representing TiE Delhi-NCR, has won at the TiE Global Finale of the global entrepreneurship programme, TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE). After bagging the top spot at the regional finals held at the Delhi chapter, a month ago, Team DetectoClip scooped three awards including the 2nd runners up , Makers Faire award and Best Customer Validation award. The winning team comprised nine high schoolers from across India and their venture – DetectoClip is a device for the visually impaired. TYE aims at fostering future generation of entrepreneurs by teaching high school students (Grades 9-12 or equivalent), the rewards and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur.
    “We congratulate our budding superstars as they take up the mantle of entrepreneurship early in their life. The support from faculty members and mentors has played a huge role in shaping these young minds. Over the years we have seen this initiative grow, with our alumni winning at the global stage every year. The TYE programme being run at TiE Delhi-NCR is in line with TiE’s vision of creating an enabling environment for budding entrepreneurs and a vibrant startup ecosystem” said Geetika Dayal, Executive Director, TiE Delhi-NCR, in a statement.

    The curriculum enrolls students from various high schools in Delhi-NCR, India and the world. Classes are conducted by successful entrepreneurs & professionals for a span of eight weeks. From a batch of 75 students at the TYE Programme at TiE Delhi-NCR, top three were chosen. The winner of the regional finals, Team DetectoClip represented the chapter at the TYE Global Business Plan Competition. The TiE Delhi-NCR finalist, Detectoclip competed with 21 top teams from across the globe, winning top honours.

    The team comprised Akshun Goyal – Jaipuria School,U.P; Ananya Srivastava- St. Agnes Loreto Day School, Lucknow; Aryan Deswal - Delhi Public School Bopal, Ahmedabad; Max Gloria, American Embassy School of New Delhi; Nysha Punjabi - La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow; Omair Alam - Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram; Omisaa Bansal - Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, Delhi; Shatakshi Shahi, La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow and Sargam Gupta - Mother Mary's School, Delhi. They were mentored by TiE Delhi-NCR Governing Council Member, Gita Dang and Siddhartha Gupta, VP-Technology & Operations, EMRIT.

    Commenting on the win TiE Delhi-NCR Governing Council Member, Gita Dang said “It’s truly inspiring to see what our students aspire to do. While mentoring the TiE Young Entrepreneurs team for the global final I could see the passion and ambition of school students to solve global problems. Their empathy and ingenuity is what programmes like TYE helps shape into the rising stars of tomorrow.. I am very proud of the team and am committed to continue supporting their endeavour. I urge all parents to introduce their school going children to entrepreneurship programme like TYE.”

    The regional finals at TiE Delhi-NCR were judged by a jury comprising Addison Appu, VP-investments, ThinKuvate; Avni Bader, CEO, Nezone Group of Companies; Sreenivasan R, Co-Founder, Career Launcher & Chief Incubation Officer/ Chief Customer Service Officer, CL Educate Ltd evaluated the teams, on parameters such as customer validation, execution or demonstration, business model, product-market fit, teamwork, presentation skills and presentation Q&A.

They learn to become a leader & develop the entrepreneurial mindset- an important learning in today’s world. I have had the pleasure of leading the TiE Delhi-NCR’s initiative from the helm past three years & have been delighted at the ingenuity of the young entrepreneurs” said Rimy Oberoi, CEO & Director, OysterConnect & TYE Chair, in a statement.

    The TYE programme at TiE Delhi-NCR has seen participants from 500+ schools across India & overseas. Alumni from the chapter have won awards at TYE Global Finales in the past including TYE Batch 2016 -2017 - Third Place: CarryOn, TYE Batch 2017-18 - Best Execution: Phoolvari, TYE Batch 2018 -19 - Maker’s Faire: Jhutput, TYE Batch 2019-20 - Best Elevator Pitch & Best Execution: Why Q, TYE Batch 2020-21 - Best Business Model – WatchBot.
