Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Uttam Sugar Mills(up 8.28%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 7.27%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 4.68%), Simbhaoli Sugars(up 1.75%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 0.85%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.73%), Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.65%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.43%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.43%) and Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.38%) stood among the top gainers.

Shree Renuka Sugars(down 2.49%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 2.21%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 2.05%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 1.98%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.03%), BAJAJHIND(down 0.93%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 0.88%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.81%) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 0.20%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 241.75 points up at 18101.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 846.94 points at 60747.31.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 3.59%), Tata Consultancy(up 3.38%), HCL Technologies(up 3.35%), IndusInd Bank(up 3.11%), Tech Mahindra(up 2.95%), SBI Life(up 2.94%), Bharti Airtel(up 2.94%), Wipro(up 2.57%), Infosys(up 2.48%) and Reliance Industries(up 2.36%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Titan Company Ltd(down 2.11%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.14%), Bajaj Auto(down 0.59%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.52%), Grasim Industries(down 0.42%) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.07%) closed in the red.
