Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.74% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 11:05AM(IST)on Wednesday in an upbeat market.

Balkrishna Industries(up 4.12 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 0.46 per cent) were among the top gainers.

TIINDIA(down 2.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 1.46 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.31 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.08 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.89 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.74 per cent at 11033.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 13.2 points at 16138.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 68.98 points at 54121.59.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., JP Power, SAIL, YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Reliance Chemo, SP Refractories Ltd., Empyrean Cashews Ltd., Shanti Overseas(Ind and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Birla Tyres, Debock Sales & Mktg, Oriental Carbon, Dhampur Sugar and Kritika Wires hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
