Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Parag Milk(up 5.40%), Dodla Dairy(up 5.34%), Prataap Snacks(up 3.16%), Emami(up 2.25%), Bajaj Consumer(up 2.06%), Dangee Dums(up 1.85%), Nakoda Group(up 1.53%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 1.47%), Umang Dairies(up 1.44%) and Sheetal Cool Products(up 1.19%) stood among the top gainers.

Future Consumer(down 4.76%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 1.37%), Marico(down 1.23%), Adani Wilmar(down 1.02%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 0.94%), Patanjali Foods(down 0.62%), Vadilal Industries(down 0.61%), Heritage Foods(down 0.53%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(down 0.28%) and Colgate Palmolive(India)(down 0.08%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 46.35 points up at 18534.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 118.57 points at 62547.11.

Hindalco Industries(up 3.54%), Hero MotoCorp(up 3.29%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 3.18%), Tata Steel(up 1.93%), JSW Steel(up 1.84%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.71%), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.68%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.28%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.22%) and Larsen & Toubro(up 1.21%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 1.89%), Infosys(down 1.55%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.23%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.0%), Tata Consultancy(down 0.55%), Wipro(down 0.54%), Eicher Motors(down 0.45%), SBI Life(down 0.43%), HCL Technologies(down 0.42%) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.39%) closed in the red.
