Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.26% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 11:00AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

L&T Technology(up 0.8 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tech Mahindra(down 1.87 per cent), Infosys(down 1.79 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.31 per cent), Coforge(down 1.16 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(down 1.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 1.26 per cent at 29340.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 89.5 points at 18570.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 314.89 points at 62363.02.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, UCO Bank, Suzlon Energy, IOB and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Indbank Merc, Madras Fert, Nagreeka Capital, UCO Bank and IOB hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Pritika Engineering Components Ltd., Sintex Inds., Metropolis Health and Indiabulls Intgrtd hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
