Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.99%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Bandhan Bank(up 0.77 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 2.79 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.84 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 1.62 per cent), Federal Bank(down 1.54 per cent) and IDFCBANK(down 1.41 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.99 per cent down at 42188.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 132.7 points at 17859.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 452.9 points at 59900.37.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, IDBI Bank, Vodafone Idea and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Donear Ind, Lambodhara Text, Tainwala Chem, Rama Steel Tubes and Salzer Electro hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while RBM Infracon Ltd., Sumeet Ind, Jyoti Structure, Paras Petrofils and Transwarr Fin(PP)hit their fresh 52-week lows.
