Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed in the Monday's session.

Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 13.87%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 10.67%), Suzlon Energy(up 10.22%), Hitachi Energy India(up 7.18%), PIGL(up 4.98%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 3.14%), Jyoti Structures(up 2.94%), NLC India(up 2.89%), PTC India(up 2.67%) and DPSC(up 1.84%) stood among the top gainers.

Energy Development Company(down 4.16%), Adani Power(down 1.85%), Inox wind(down 1.83%), ADANIGREEN(down 1.43%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.41%), GE Power India Limited(down 0.80%), Tata Power Company(down 0.77%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.76%), NHPC(down 0.72%) and Inox Wind Energy(down 0.68%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 0.55 points up at 18497.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 51.1 points at 62130.57.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 3.12%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.98%), Coal India(up 1.55%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.22%), UPL Ltd(up 1.22%), Nestle India(up 1.21%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.17%), Tata Steel(up 1.13%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.02%) and UltraTech Cement(up 0.98%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints(down 1.88%), Infosys(down 1.41%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.18%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.18%), Eicher Motors(down 1.12%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.06%), Cipla(down 1.0%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.78%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.76%) and State Bank of India(down 0.56%) closed in the red.
