Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.34% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 11:05AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Alkem Laboratories(up 1.04 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.03 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.37 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.31 per cent) and Granules India(up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Ipca Laboratories(down 1.68 per cent), Cipla(down 1.21 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.99 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.97 per cent) and Abbott India(down 0.88 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.34 per cent at 12457.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 98.3 points at 16726.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 433.73 points at 56251.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Ibull Housing Fin, Zomato Ltd. and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Aether Industries Ltd., Automotive Axle, Globesecure Technologies Ltd., Globe Intl. Carriers and Khandwala Sec hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Medico Remedies, Debock Sales & Mktg, Future Retail, Shree Cements and Future Enterprises hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
