Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Friday at 10:55AM

NHPC(up 2.29%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.97%), RTNPOWER(up 1.22%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 1.09%), SJVN(up 1.00%), JSW Energy(up 0.73%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 0.68%), Suzlon Energy(up 0.62%), Torrent Power(up 0.58%) and DPSC(up 0.38%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 2.80%), Energy Development Company(down 2.11%), Karma Energy(down 1.65%), KPI Green Energy(down 1.42%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.75%), Indowind Energy(down 0.69%), GE Power India Limited(down 0.65%), Adani Power(down 0.59%) and Inox Wind Energy(down 0.45%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 30.1 points down at 18022.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 154.26 points at 60682.15 at around 10:55AM.

Bajaj Finserv(up 3.15%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.53%), JSW Steel(up 1.81%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.5%), Eicher Motors(up 0.98%), Tata Motors(up 0.96%), Tata Steel(up 0.93%), Grasim Industries(up 0.91%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.88%) and UPL Ltd(up 0.85%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp(down 2.31%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.87%), Infosys(down 1.66%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.5%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.3%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.28%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.24%), HDFC Bank(down 0.94%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.8%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.8%) were trading in the red.
