Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.51%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Bandhan Bank(up 3.37 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.38 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 1.14 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.75 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.55 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 1.3 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.9 per cent) and Federal Bank(down 0.41 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.51 per cent up at 39239.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 127.1 points at 17825.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 379.43 points at 59842.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Arman Financial, Ritco Logistics, Bharat Wire Ropes, AMD Industries and KPI Global Infra hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dynemic Product(PP), Surya Roshni, SVP Global, Mangalam Worldwide Ltd. and Heranba Industries Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
