Stock market update: BSE MidCap index flat; IDFC First Bank rises 5%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE MidCap index was trading flat at 01:13PM on Tuesday.

Shares of IDFC First Bank (up 5.29 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (up 5.18 per cent), Emami (up 4.41 per cent), Voltas (up 4.14 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (up 3.94 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 4.19 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (down 3.01 per cent), Info Edge (India) (down 2.85 per cent), Ajanta Pharma (down 2.48 per cent) and Future Retail (down 2.09 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.11 per cent up at 14436.83 around 01:13PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 77.45 points at 11347.6, while the BSE Sensex was up 314.23 points at 38496.31.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, IDFC First Bank Ltd. and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Vaibhav Global, Garware Technical Fibres, Rossari Biotech Ltd., GMM Pfaudler and JSPL hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade.
