    Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Hospital stocks roar; Vedanta bleeds

    Fiem Industries, Ola's new sole supplier, stole the spotlight, whereas hospital stocks were much in demand among the investors. Vedanta bled after the Tuticorin issue came up in court again.

    Shares of healthcare facilities were in demand after the companies reported a healthy revenue growth and rise in bed occupancy.
    New Delhi: After a volatile trading session, domestic equity markets managed to end the day on a higher note and benchmark indices settled at fresh highs. IT and FMCG counters saw buying, whereas metals and financials were under pressure.

    The 30-share pack Sensex climbed 209.69 points or 0.38 per cent to close at 55,792.27. Its broader peer NSE Nifty rose 51.55 points or 0.31 per cent to 16,614.60, taking its winning run to the seventh consecutive day. Both indices scaled fresh highs. BSE Smallcap and Midcap index ended higher.

    Here is a look at some of the biggest movers and shakers of Tuesday's session:

    TOP GAINERS OF THE DAY

    Fiem Industries: The auto parts manufacturer has become the sole supplier to Ola Electric for headlamps, tail lamps, indicators, rear fender assembly and mirrors. The counter soared 20 per cent to Rs 948.25.

    Hospital stocks: Shares of healthcare facilities were in demand after the companies reported a healthy revenue growth and rise in bed occupancy. Apollo Hospitals and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences soared 13 per cent each to Rs 4,920.40 and Rs 1,378.10, respectively. Aster DM Healthcare gained 8 per cent to Rs 176.55.

    Astron Paper & Board Mill: The paper and paper products firm rallied 16 per cent to Rs 64.20 as the Asian Granito divested 18.87 per cent in the company. The volumes of the company multiplied four times than the average.

    VST Tillers Tractors: The commercial vehicle firm advanced 11 per cent to Rs 2,216 after the company announced a 40 per cent jump in the profit after tax to Rs 24.01 crore, whereas revenue jumped 33 per cent to Rs 193.6 crore in the June 2021 quarter.

    Mro-Tek Realty: The communications technology firm continued to hit upper circuit of 10 per cent and settled at Rs 52.30 as the company posted a consolidated profit of Rs 81.3 crore for the June quarter.

    TOP LOSERS FOR THE DAY

    Vedanta: The Anil Agarwal-led mining firm bled 10 per cent to Rs 302.65 after the Hindustan Zinc board meeting to consider dividend was deferred. Madras HC issued notice to Vedanta on remediation of contaminated sites within its copper smelter in Tuticorin after Tuticorin-based social activist Fathima Babu filed a PIL.

    Centrum Capital: The NBFC tanked 9 per cent to Rs 36.60 after it reported a net loss of Rs 3.87 crore in the June 2021 quarter as against a net profit of Rs 0.54 crore in the year-ago quarter.

    Indostar Capital Finance: The NBFC tanked 8 per cent to Rs 330.80 after the analysts/investor meet. The company had posted a poor set of numbers in the June 2021 quarter.

    Titagarh Wagons: The company is looking to expand after its subsidiary turnaround as it reported a positive EBITDA after five quarters of losses previously. Investors booked profit in the company after a 40 per cent rally in the last one month. It settled 5 per cent higher at Rs 94.
