Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 4.35%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 3.70%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 2.53%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 2.26%), Ugar Sugar Works(up 1.78%) and AVADHSUGAR(up 0.01%) stood among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars(down 10.00%), Sakthi Sugars(down 9.97%), Rana Sugars(down 8.07%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 6.03%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 5.85%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 5.82%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 5.67%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 5.13%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 3.96%) and Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 3.87%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 35.15 points down at 18385.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 103.9 points at 61702.29.

Adani Enterprises(up 2.21%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.31%), Reliance Industries(up 0.87%), IndusInd Bank(up 0.42%), Axis Bank(up 0.38%), ICICI Bank(up 0.36%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.31%), Nestle India(up 0.27%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.17%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.04%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, SBI Life(down 2.86%), Eicher Motors(down 2.23%), UPL Ltd(down 1.99%), Tata Motors(down 1.79%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.6%), Bharti Airtel(down 1.36%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.19%), NTPC(down 1.19%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.96%) and Larsen & Toubro(down 0.95%) closed in the red.
