Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 57.35 points to 18162.65 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Jindal Pol Film, Moxsh Overseas Educon Ltd., Rel Capital, Godha Cabcon & Insul and Sintex Inds., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 28 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 22 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Hindalco, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and ONGC were among top gainers, while Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Sun Pharma, Divis Labs and Cipla traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 202.81 points up at 61043.55 at 09:59AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Holding Company, Leather, Infrastructure, Rubber and Metals - Ferrous sectors, while selling was visible in Glass, Learning & Education, Textiles, Trading and Shipping sectors.
