Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

Simbhaoli Sugars(up 1.05%), Sakthi Sugars(up 0.97%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.79%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.77%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 0.53%), DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.47%), Rana Sugars(up 0.38%) and Shree Renuka Sugars(up 0.17%) stood among the top gainers.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 3.07%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 1.86%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.47%), BAJAJHIND(down 1.45%), EID Parry(down 1.31%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 0.80%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 0.73%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 0.70%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 0.68%) and K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.65%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 35.1 points up at 18232.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 126.41 points at 61294.2.

HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 4.44%), SBI Life(up 2.29%), Axis Bank(up 2.2%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.86%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.53%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.42%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.21%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.19%), Wipro(up 1.02%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.9%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 1.47%), Britannia Industries(down 1.17%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.07%), JSW Steel(down 0.95%), Grasim Industries(down 0.82%), Reliance Industries(down 0.73%), Tata Steel(down 0.67%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.64%), Asian Paints(down 0.62%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.6%) closed in the red.
