Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Thursday's session.

Orient Green Power Company(up 15.79%), Inox Wind Energy(up 1.54%), JSW Energy(up 0.75%), ADANIGREEN(up 0.64%), PTC India(up 0.51%), DPSC(up 0.38%) and Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 0.07%) stood among the top gainers.

Alstom T&D India(down 8.61%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 6.76%), SJVN(down 5.32%), Indowind Energy(down 5.00%), Reliance Power(down 5.00%), Adani Power(down 4.99%), Jyoti Structures(down 4.82%), Karma Energy(down 4.63%), KPI Green Energy(down 4.24%) and Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 3.92%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 71.75 points down at 18127.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 241.02 points at 60826.22.

UltraTech Cement(up 0.89%), SBI Life(up 0.84%), Infosys(up 0.83%), Grasim Industries(up 0.69%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.63%), Asian Paints(up 0.62%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.5%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.43%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.33%) and Bharti Airtel(up 0.32%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UPL Ltd(down 3.38%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.51%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.37%), Eicher Motors(down 2.05%), Tata Motors(down 2.02%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.86%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.8%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.69%), Tata Steel(down 1.6%) and Axis Bank(down 1.37%) closed in the red.
