Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.89%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Tata Consultancy(up 0.19 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge(down 3.9 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 2.5 per cent), Mindtree(down 2.24 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 1.97 per cent) and L&T Technology(down 1.77 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.89 per cent down at 28318.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 49.85 points at 17786.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 203.01 points at 59959.85.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 21 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, BHEL, RBL Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tourism Finance, Wealth First Port, Varanium Cloud Ltd., Jay Jalaram Technologies Ltd. and Orbit Exports hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Oriental Trimex, FSN E-Comm(Nykaa), Tracxn Technologies Ltd., Cyber Media Research & Services Ltd. and Phantom Digital Effects Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
