Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 10:40AM

Indowind Energy(up 4.95%), Adani Transmissions(up 1.31%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.06%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 0.57%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.56%), Alstom T&D India(up 0.43%), Adani Power(up 0.42%), Jyoti Structures(up 0.35%), Torrent Power(up 0.33%) and Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 0.18%) were among the top gainers.

Suzlon Energy(down 7.57%), PTC India(down 3.31%), RTNPOWER(down 2.38%), NLC India(down 1.40%), Karma Energy(down 1.33%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.27%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.17%), ADANIGREEN(down 1.01%), JSW Energy(down 0.83%) and NTPC(down 0.79%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 41.2 points down at 17471.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 166.47 points at 58940.72 at around 10:40AM.

UPL Ltd(up 1.29%), Cipla(up 1.28%), Nestle India(up 1.15%), HCL Technologies(up 0.9%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.72%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.69%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.61%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.54%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.51%) and Wipro(up 0.46%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 3.88%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.81%), State Bank of India(down 1.26%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.24%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.11%), Coal India(down 1.09%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.07%), Axis Bank(down 1.03%), ICICI Bank(down 0.87%) and HDFC Bank(down 0.81%) were trading in the red.
