Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.48%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Divis Laboratories(up 1.54 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Natco Pharma(down 5.4 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 3.95 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 3.67 per cent), Granules India(down 3.37 per cent) and Laurus(down 2.99 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.48 per cent down at 12596.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 61.8 points at 16240.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 105.82 points at 54364.85.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., SAIL and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lancer Container Lin, Dhanvarsha Finvest, Pashupati Cotspin, Global Education and Silver Touch Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rainbow Childrens Medicare Ltd., Stylam Ind, Ramco Systems, Birla Tyres and Take Solutions hit their fresh 52-week lows.
