Stock market update: Airtel, RCom pull BSE Telecom index up 3%; Voda Idea nosedives 15%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE Telecom index was trading with gains at 12:03PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Bharti Airtel (up 5.55 per cent) and Reliance Communications (up 3.32 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Vodafone Idea (down 14.92 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 7.64 per cent), HFCL Ltd (down 4.92 per cent), OnMobile Global (down 3.49 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (down 3.3 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 2.57 per cent up at 1258.89 around 12:03PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 54.80 points at 11442.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 234.3 points at 38862.59.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Tata Power and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd., IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd. and Infibeam Avenues Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Panth Infinity Ltd., Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Darshan Orna Ltd., Anupam Finserv Ltd., Vas Infrastructure Ltd., Saffron Industries Ltd., Megastar Foods Ltd., Suncare Traders Ltd., B P Capital Ltd. and Benara Bearings & Pistons Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
