Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.89%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 3.6 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 3.54 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 3.28 per cent), Bosch(up 2.64 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(up 2.26 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.89 per cent up at 13323.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 13.2 points at 17662.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 49.49 points at 59549.9.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, PNB, Vodafone Idea and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Manaksia Ltd, Automotive Axle, IIFL Finance, Axita Cotton and KPIT Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Uma Converter Ltd., Heranba Industries Ltd., Aarti Pharmalabs Ltd., Hubtown Ltd and BKM Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
