Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.35%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 5.03 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.57 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.46 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 1.37 per cent) and Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 1.31 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India(down 1.5 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.87 per cent), Laurus(down 0.79 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.33 per cent) and Biocon(down 0.29 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.35 per cent up at 12261.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 39.95 points at 15692.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 152.18 points at 52541.39.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, MRPL, RBL Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of KPI Global Infra, Priti International, Mirza Intnl, Standard Ind and Globe Intl. Carriers hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sadbhav Eng, PTC India, Uniinfo Telecom Serv, Tata Comm and Ibull Real Estate hit their fresh 52-week lows.
