Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 10:40AM

Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 3.66%), Ashapura Minechem(up 0.85%), MOIL(up 0.56%), NMDC Ltd(up 0.43%), Coal India(up 0.25%) and Pokarna(up 0.16%) were among the top gainers.

Aro Granite Industries(down 1.30%), KIOCL(down 0.70%), Oriental Trimex(down 0.61%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 0.45%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.11%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 51.4 points down at 18113.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 157.42 points at 60888.32 at around 10:40AM.

UPL Ltd(up 1.5%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.9%), Tata Steel(up 0.86%), Axis Bank(up 0.61%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.6%), SBI Life(up 0.48%), Grasim Industries(up 0.45%), Bajaj Finance(up 0.42%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.36%) and Asian Paints(up 0.3%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 3.58%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.44%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.29%), Tata Motors(down 1.2%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.18%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.14%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.09%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.94%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.89%) and Eicher Motors(down 0.87%) were trading in the red.
