Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.51% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 11:05AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Bharat Forge(up 4.57 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 3.49 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 2.72 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 2.13 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 1.41 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Escorts(down 0.87 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 1.51 per cent at 11664.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 4.75 points at 16656.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 60.18 points at 55865.56.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy, Adani Power and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Uravi T and Wedge, Foce India Ltd., Voltamp Trans, CreditAccess Grameen and Fine Organic Ind. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indo Borax Chem, SVP Global, Nath Bio-Genes , Dynemic Product and Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
