Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.31%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.94 per cent), Abbott India(up 1.57 per cent), Cipla(up 1.19 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 1.19 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.9 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 3.27 per cent), Biocon(down 1.7 per cent), Lupin(down 1.08 per cent), Granules India(down 0.89 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 0.5 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.31 per cent up at 12797.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 110.85 points at 18608.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 402.73 points at 62533.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Central Bank, UCO Bank, IOB and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of UCO Bank, Indbank Merc, Central Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank and IOB hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Sanwaria Consumer, Amiable Logistic(India)Ltd., DJ Mediaprint & Logi and Pritika Engineering Components Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
