Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 11:16AM

Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 7.13%), EID Parry(up 1.98%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(up 1.54%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 1.18%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 0.95%), AVADHSUGAR(up 0.92%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 0.87%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 0.87%), Rana Sugars(up 0.86%) and DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.83%) were among the top gainers.

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 3.77%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.32%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 0.67%), BAJAJHIND(down 0.67%), Sakthi Sugars(down 0.66%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 0.43%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(down 0.04%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 71.7 points up at 18679.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 242.74 points at 62776.04 at around 11:16AM.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.22%), Eicher Motors(up 1.84%), NTPC(up 1.77%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.51%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.5%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.28%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.13%), UPL Ltd(up 1.07%), State Bank of India(up 1.01%) and HDFC Bank(up 0.98%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Nestle India(down 1.27%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.85%), ICICI Bank(down 0.38%), Asian Paints(down 0.36%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.25%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.23%), Reliance Industries(down 0.14%), Cipla(down 0.06%), Britannia Industries(down 0.05%) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.02%) were trading in the red.
