Stock market update: MidCap stocks rise; Future Retail leaps 7%

NEW DELHI: MidCap stocks were trading higher at 02:27PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Federal Bank (up 7.93 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance (up 7.89 per cent), Canara Bank (up 7.01 per cent), Future Retail (up 6.72 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 6.62 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Varroc Engineering (down 2.95 per cent), KIOCL (down 2.73 per cent), Honeywell Automation India (down 2.62 per cent), Bajaj Holdings & Investment (down 2.28 per cent) and MPhasis (down 2.21 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.68 per cent up at 15258.15 around 02:27PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 101.85 points at 11661.1, while the BSE Sensex was up 398.14 points at 39511.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, BHEL, GMR Infra and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sun Pharma, SBI Cards, GMR Infra, Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd. and Coromandel Int. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Panth Infinity Ltd., Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Darshan Orna Ltd., Kuber Udyog Ltd., Spice Islands Apparels Ltd., N B Footwear Ltd., Anka India Ltd., Libord Finance Ltd., Spicy Entertainment and Media Ltd. and Omansh Enterprises Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
