Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.32%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 0.72 per cent), MRF(up 0.61 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.56 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.46 per cent) and Bosch(up 0.2 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.78 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.88 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.44 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.09 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.97 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.32 per cent down at 13222.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 66.3 points at 18003.75, while the BSE Sensex stood down 224.11 points at 60346.97.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tata Investment, Aarvi Encon, TRF Ltd, Hindcon Chemicals and Bharat Gears hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Piramal Ent., Sportking India, Alembic Pharma, MEP Infrastructure and Sanofi India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
