Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.05%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Cipla(up 1.57 per cent), Granules India(up 1.19 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.87 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 0.61 per cent) and Pfizer(up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.12 per cent), Lupin(down 0.93 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.79 per cent), Abbott India(down 0.77 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.61 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.05 per cent down at 12412.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 14.75 points at 16569.55, while the BSE Sensex stood down 93.91 points at 55675.32.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Shree Ren Sug and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Oil India Ltd, Elecon Engg Co, Zenith Birla, Empyrean Cashews Ltd. and Hindustan Motor hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shekhawati Poly, Vertoz Advertising, Precision Metaliks Ltd., STC India and Xelpmoc Design hit their fresh 52-week lows.
