Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.51% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:09AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

L&T Technology(up 1.08 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.36 per cent), Mindtree(up 0.01 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.01 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Infosys(down 0.9 per cent), Wipro(down 0.82 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.63 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.62 per cent) and Coforge(down 0.61 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.51 per cent at 26883.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 64.2 points at 17752.05, while the BSE Sensex was down 159.94 points at 59559.8.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Shree Ren Sug, Central Bank, Vodafone Idea and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Airo Lam, Swaraj Engines, Liberty Shoes, Trans & Rectif and McLeod Russel hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dynemic Product(PP), JFL Life Sciences Ltd., MEP Infrastructure, GRM Overseas and Gland Pharma hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
