    Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Alphageo rallies 18%; Info Edge roars 9%

    Alphageo (India) surged 18 per cent to Rs 457.80 over expectations of strong earnings growth during FY22 and strong order book.
    New Delhi: Domestic benchmark indices settled flat on Wednesday and ended with marginal declines. Traders remained cautious over global concerns like rising Covid cases and slowing economic recovery. Buying in banking and select consumer stocks kept the losses in check.

    The 30-share pack Sensex shed merely 29.22 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 58,250.26. Its broader peer NSE Nifty fell 8.60 points or 0.05 per cent to 17,353.50. Both the indices made a strong recovery from the day's low. BSE midcap and smallcap indices outperformed, gaining up to a per cent each.

    Lesser known stocks were more abuzz during the volatile session. Alphageo (India) and Goldiam International gained over 15 per cent each, whereas Naukri was the stock in spotlight from the F&O segment. Dish TV shed 4 per cent over legal tussle with YES Bank.

    Here is a look at some of the biggest movers and shakers of Wednesday's session:

    TOP GAINERS OF THE DAY

    Alphageo (India): India's largest onland integrated seismic services player in the private sector surged 18 per cent to Rs 457.80 over expectations of strong earnings growth during FY22 and strong order book.

    Goldiam International: The diamond exporter zoomed 16 per cent to Rs 856.10 over the buzz about the company's buyback plan. The company board will meet on September 13 to consider the buyback.

    Filatex India: The smallcap textile player rallied 12 per cent to Rs 96.70 after the government approved Rs 10,683 crore PLI scheme for the sector. Also, the company management met analysts over the upcoming rights issue.

    Asian Granito Tiles: The home furnishing tiles manufacturer advanced 12 per cent to Rs 155.60, a day ahead of the record date for its rights issue. The company will raise Rs 224.64 crore from the issue by offering 19 share rights for every 29 shares held.

    Arman Financial Service: The NBFC was much in demand on the basis of a strong technical outlook. The daily volume traded on BSE jumped manifold than the two-week average. The scrip settled 12 per cent higher at Rs 954.90.

    Neogen Chemicals: The speciality chemical company continued its uptrend and gained 9 per cent to Rs 1,198.35 after it informed that the Phase I commercial operations for manufacturing of organic chemicals commenced at full scale successfully at Dahej.

    Info Edge (India): The internet services player added 9 per cent to Rs 6,720.45 on strong growth outlook reports over hiring activities and positivity over the upcoming IPO of PolicyBazaar, where Naukri holds about 14 per cent stake.

    TOP LOSERS OF THE DAY

    Sintex Plastics Technology: The plastic products firm was in the top names among the losers, declining 3.08 per cent to Rs 4.09 due to poor technical structure. The traded volume more than doubled compared to the two-week average volume of the counter.

    Karda Constructions: The real estate company shed 4 per cent to Rs 17.15 during the session. The scrip has been on a downhill ever sinces issuing bonus shares in 4:1 ratio.

    Dish TV: The broadcasting and cable TV company fell 4 per cent to Rs 14.96 after the legal notice from YES Bank, in which the private lender has asked the company to remove five directors in the company, including managing director Jawahar Lal Goel.

    Steel Strips Wheels: The auto parts firm tanked 4 per cent to Rs 1,750.70, extending its losing streak. The scrip has fallen about 10 per cent in the last three sessions since its board meeting.
