    Apparel brand Shantanu & Nikhil to foray into perfumes

    The brand recently launched its digital platform and is targeting global consumers with Indian fashion. The label is known for its haute couture, designed for both men and women. Incorporated in 2007, Shantanu & Nikhil sells contemporary Indian designs through its own stores. It also sells footwear and accessories.

    New Delhi: Finesse International Design owner of bespoke apparel brand Shantanu & Nikhil brand, which received an investment of Rs 60 core from Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, will foray into perfumes, said co-founder Shantanu Mehra.

    The brand recently launched its digital platform and is targeting global consumers with Indian fashion. The label is known for its haute couture, designed for both men and women.

    Incorporated in 2007, Shantanu & Nikhil sells contemporary Indian designs through its own stores. It also sells footwear and accessories.

    Last year, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL), a unit of Aditya Birla Group, announced and acquisition of a 51 per cent stake in Finesse International Design.

    Mehra said this is perhaps the first-of-its-kind deal “where a retail brand and mainstream fashion designers" have joined hands.

    Aditya Birla Fashion, which sells products under brands such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England, has also bought Jaypore e-commerce which runs an eponymous ethnic items' marketplace, for an enterprise value of Rs 110 crore ($15.8 million). It also runs fashion stores under the Pantaloons brand.
