Gillette to launch Braun in India

Gillette India Limited (GIL) said it has started marketing and selling electric grooming appliance brand Braun in India.

Braun, a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble was founded in Germany in 1921 and was acquired by Gillette in 1967. Gillette said the addition of Braun adds an extensive range of both male and female grooming products like electric shavers, trimmers, epilators, hair removal devices, and hair care devices to the company’s existing portfolio.

“In line with our superiority strategy, our continued focus has been to understand and meet the evolving needs of our consumers with superior and newer propositions. The latest addition of Braun, which is world renowned for incredible precision, good design and innovative technology, will enable us to better serve the Indian consumers with devices that help in creating a perfect look," said Madhusudan Gopalan, managing director, GIL.

The brand will be initially launched online. Gillette, which had an annual revenues of Rs2009 crore, is the market leader in the grooming business and posted its strongest year-on-year value, volume and share growth last fiscal.

The electrical grooming segment is valued at about Rs 3000 crore, growing rapidly due to newer consumers adopting the products as well as dozens of companies entering the segment over the past few years.
