Stock market update: Bank stocks advance; Kotak Mahindra Bank gains 1%

NEW DELHI: Bank stocks were trading on a positive note at 10:38AM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Federal Bank (up 1.11 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.1 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.05 per cent), IDFC Bank (up 0.81 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 0.66 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While RBL Bank (down 1.12 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 0.89 per cent), Bandhan Bank (down 0.84 per cent) and Bank of Baroda (down 0.62 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.58 per cent up at 22392.3 around 10:38AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 36.10 points at 11344.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 93.97 points at 38463.6.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, Ashok Leyland and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Indiabulls Ventures (PP), Galaxy Surfactants Ltd., Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Alkyl Amines and Tata Consumer Products hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd. and Sumit Woods Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
