Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Friday at 10:40AM

Suzlon Energy(up 5.70%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.90%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.29%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 4.17%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 2.08%), Torrent Power(up 1.46%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 1.33%), Tata Power Company(up 1.32%), PTC India(up 1.23%) and Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.03%) were among the top gainers.

Karma Energy(down 2.84%), Inox wind(down 1.06%), Adani Power(down 0.97%), Hitachi Energy India(down 0.79%), Voltamp Transformers(down 0.52%), Energy Development Company(down 0.47%), KEC International(down 0.45%), Reliance Power(down 0.36%), GE Power India Limited(down 0.26%) and Adani Transmissions(down 0.12%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 22.05 points up at 18129.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 80.05 points at 60938.48 at around 10:40AM.

Tata Motors(up 1.75%), Coal India(up 1.38%), HDFC Bank(up 1.25%), HDFC(up 1.19%), State Bank of India(up 1.0%), IndusInd Bank(up 0.99%), Larsen & Toubro(up 0.96%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.95%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.91%) and ICICI Bank(up 0.7%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever(down 2.85%), Asian Paints(down 1.8%), JSW Steel(down 1.33%), Nestle India(down 1.31%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.02%), SBI Life(down 1.01%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.87%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.71%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.63%) and Britannia Industries(down 0.48%) were trading in the red.
