Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Bannari Amman Sugars(up 1.81%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 1.26%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 1.11%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.43%) and Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.11%) stood among the top gainers.

Shree Renuka Sugars(down 6.14%), BAJAJHIND(down 4.97%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 4.94%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 4.73%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 4.32%), Rana Sugars(down 3.60%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 3.53%), Mawana Sugars(down 3.16%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 3.00%) and Ugar Sugar Works(down 2.98%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 287.6 points down at 17604.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 874.16 points at 59330.9.

Tata Motors(up 6.34%), Bajaj Auto(up 5.9%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.69%), ITC(up 1.99%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.55%), Cipla(up 1.16%), UPL Ltd(up 0.91%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.66%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.47%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.45%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 18.52%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 16.29%), State Bank of India(down 5.06%), ICICI Bank(down 4.45%), IndusInd Bank(down 3.44%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 3.15%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.94%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.1%), Axis Bank(down 2.08%) and Hindalco Industries(down 2.07%) closed in the red.
