Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.62%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 2.57 per cent), Bosch(up 1.57 per cent), Escorts(up 1.34 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 0.23 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp(down 3.43 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.74 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.36 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.25 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 1.23 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.62 per cent down at 11491.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 105.25 points at 16628.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 436.94 points at 55818.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Adani Power, JP Power and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Raymond, Elecon Engg Co, Mahindra Lifespace, Lemon Tree Hotels and Fine Organic Ind. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Debock Sales & Mktg, Medico Remedies, Gujarat Lease, Future Retail and Shyam Telecom hit their fresh 52-week lows.
