Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.26%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 3.0 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 2.67 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 1.38 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.26 per cent) and IDFCBANK(up 0.8 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Federal Bank(down 0.72 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.22 per cent) and HDFC Bank(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.26 per cent up at 42457.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 84.25 points at 18244.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 274.12 points at 61418.96.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.

Shares of UCO Bank, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., JP Power, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Easy Trip Planners Ltd., BSL Ltd, V-Marc India Ltd., Kaynes Technology India Ltd. and Hi-Tech Pipes hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while PayTM, Moksh Ornaments Ltd., Avanti Feeds, Olectra Greentech and CMM Infraprojects Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
