Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Orient Green Power Company(up 6.25%), Karma Energy(up 3.29%), ADANIGREEN(up 0.96%) and KPI Green Energy(up 0.74%) stood among the top gainers.

Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 4.17%), Voltamp Transformers(down 3.98%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 3.17%), JSW Energy(down 2.82%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 2.71%), PTC India(down 2.58%), Adani Power(down 2.39%), Energy Development Company(down 2.16%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 2.14%) and Hitachi Energy India(down 2.13%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 145.9 points down at 18269.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 461.22 points at 61337.81.

Tata Motors(up 1.18%), HDFC Bank(up 0.48%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.3%), Tata Steel(up 0.09%) and JSW Steel(up 0.01%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 3.58%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.75%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.66%), Asian Paints(down 2.39%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.12%), State Bank of India(down 2.05%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.96%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.93%), Grasim Industries(down 1.71%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.67%) closed in the red.
