Disney Plus has released the trailer for 'Pinocchio', the puppet character from 1883’s famous children’s book, The Adventures of Pinocchio.

The upcoming movie is a remake of the 1940 superhit movie of the same name. Carlo Collodi, the famed Italian author and journalist wrote the original book.
The trailer dropped on Wednesday, while the movie is scheduled for a Disney+ exclusive release on September 8 this year. As per the trailer, Pinocchio is a puppet created by the woodcarver Geppetto.

A fairy blesses Pinocchio, and he comes to life after his creator and a childless man wishes so. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has given his voice to Pinocchio, while the legendary Tom Hanks has lend his to Geppetto. Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy, who gives life to the puppet.

Robert Downey Jr., Luke Evans, Giuseppe Battison, Kyanne Lamaya, Lewin Lloyd and Sheila Atim have also got featured in Pinocchio. Evans was also a part of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, where he played Gaston, the coachman of Pleasure Island.

The upcoming classic remake is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also wrote the screenplay with Chris Weitz. Executive producers for the movie include Jack Rapke, Jeremy Johns and Jacqueline Levine.

Disney does not have exclusive rights to the character as Pinocchio is not the only movie based on Collodi’s book. Earlier in February, 'Pinocchio: A True Story' was released, written and directed by Vasily Rovenskiy.

The movie was produced by Lionsgate Entertainment, starring Paul Shore as Pinocchio. Moreover, Netflix is scheduled to release another Pinocchio-centric movie in December 2022, featuring Gregory Mann, David Bradley and Ewan McGregor. Netflix’s Pinocchio movie will have Mark Gustafson and Guillermo del Toro as directors.

Apart from 'Pinocchio', Disney is also working on other animated flicks scheduled to release next year. These movies include The Little Mermaid (May 2023) and Peter Pan & Wendy. While the former will see a worldwide release, the latter will be a Disney+ exclusive, like 'Pinocchio'.
