Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.12%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Infosys(up 1.61 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 1.58 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 1.39 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 1.32 per cent) and Persistent Systems(up 0.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 0.5 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.3 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 1.12 per cent up at 29376.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 110.85 points at 18608.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 402.73 points at 62533.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Central Bank, UCO Bank, IOB and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of UCO Bank, Indbank Merc, Central Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank and IOB hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Sanwaria Consumer, Amiable Logistic(India)Ltd., DJ Mediaprint & Logi and Pritika Engineering Components Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
