Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.54%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of TIINDIA(up 2.8 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 2.44 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.88 per cent), MRF(up 1.41 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Escorts Kubota(down 5.2 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 3.6 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.44 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.56 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.62 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.54 per cent up at 13023.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 5.4 points at 17345.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 20.86 points at 58136.36.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Beardsell Ltd, YES Bank, Ram Ratna Wire, Vedant Fashions Ltd. and JK Paper hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while KCK Industries Ltd., SKP Bearing Industries Ltd., Birla Tyres, IMP Powers Ltd and Tijaria Polypip hit their fresh 52-week lows.
