Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.01%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 3.98 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 2.13 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 1.86 per cent), MRF(up 1.38 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 1.02 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 2.5 per cent), Escorts(down 2.22 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 2.22 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.2 per cent) and Eicher Motors(down 0.8 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.01 per cent up at 11116.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 89.55 points at 16125.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 236.0 points at 54052.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, GMR Infra, YES Bank and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Delhivery Ltd., Venus Pipes & Tubes Ltd., Sharda Cropchem, Siddhika Coatings Ltd. and Empyrean Cashews Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rane Eng Valve, Asian Granito, Debock Sales & Mktg, Equitas Small Fin and Vaibhav Global hit their fresh 52-week lows.
