Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.05%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of Eicher Motors(up 3.93 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.77 per cent), Bosch(up 2.57 per cent), TIINDIA(up 2.15 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 1.88 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Forge(down 2.01 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.02 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.41 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.05 per cent up at 12252.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 4.6 points at 16216.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 86.61 points at 54395.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of PC Jeweller, Himadri Speciality, Mirza Intnl, Elecon Engg Co and Shalimar Paints hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, JIK Industries, Arshiya, Suumaya Lifestyle and Parsvnath Dev. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
