Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 4.81%), KEC International(up 4.39%), Adani Power(up 4.13%), PIGL(up 3.39%), CESC(up 2.87%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 2.39%), SJVN(up 2.37%), NHPC(up 2.31%), Jyoti Structures(up 2.22%) and KPI Green Energy(up 1.57%) stood among the top gainers.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 4.82%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 1.92%), Inox wind(down 1.57%), Suzlon Energy(down 1.46%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.30%), Reliance Power(down 1.25%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.09%), Voltamp Transformers(down 1.06%), Karma Energy(down 0.86%) and Indowind Energy(down 0.70%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 110.85 points up at 18608.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 402.73 points at 62533.3.

IndusInd Bank(up 2.34%), Bajaj Finance(up 1.75%), Infosys(up 1.61%), HCL Technologies(up 1.58%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.53%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.53%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.4%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.39%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.32%) and Bajaj Finserv(up 1.22%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.34%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.83%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.82%), UPL Ltd(down 0.73%), Nestle India(down 0.48%), Tata Steel(down 0.45%), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.45%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.43%), Coal India(down 0.37%) and Titan Company Ltd(down 0.34%) closed in the red.
